DTBL would like to welcome Bill Csaszar to our team. Bill is an SFC in the Army out in the Pittsburgh area, and is already working hard for our cause. He will be meeting with the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation on our behalf, and they are planning some great stuff to introduce Defending The Blue Line to the Pittsburgh community.

DTBL would like to send a big thank you out to the Boogaard and family and to the MN Wild for the Awesome Tribute Night and the super donations to DTBL.

Boogaard quickly became a fan favorite after that NHL debut, which was apparent Sunday when fans stood, cheered, laughed and cried during a five-minute video tribute that included comments from Wild players Nick Schultz and Josh Harding, former Wild players Marian Gaborik, Andrew Brunette and Brent Burns and ex-Rangers teammates Brian Boyle and Brandon Prust.
The Wild presented the Boogaards with a painting, added a Boogaard memorial to the main concourse of the arena and donated $10,000 to Boogaard’s favorite charity, Defending the Blue Line.

From DTBL volunteers, Sandy and Dan Larson:
“The Home Depot Foundation is holding a contest that provides $25,000 to the project that can get the most votes during the month of November, and Sandy, who does outreach for the MN Veterans Home in Minneapolis has a dementia / alzheimers renovation project in the running .
We’ve been a consistent second out of four quality projects since voting began on Nov. 1st, and will not win without a sizable push (we are consistently about 300 votes shy). This project is absolutely necessary to ease the growing housing concerns at the facility and this project is the only hope to get it done. Vote each of the remaining eight days of the month – it could help give us the energy this project needs to win.
Follow this link to vote once a day for each of the remaining days of November – for the Mpls. Veterans Home project (#1).”

This is a must see video and tribute to Derek Boogaard from the MN Wild featuring Derek’s family and Defending The Blue Line, the organization that he loved and supported.
This article was posted on NHL.com earlier this week:
On November 27, Minnesota Wild fans will get one more chance to say goodbye and to remember Derek Boogaard, the beloved tough guy who called Minnesota home for most of his professional career.
Boogaard, who tragically passed away in May, will be honored in a special pre-game ceremony prior to the Wild hosting the Calgary Flames at 5:00 that Sunday afternoon. Boogaard’s parents Joanne and Len, siblings Aaron, Krysten, Ryan and Curtis and grandparents Peter and Nancy are scheduled to be in attendance when the team shows a tribute video during the ceremony.
On the ice, Boogaard was one of the most feared enforcers in the game. Off the ice, he was one of the most charitable and friendliest players to wear a Wild sweater. One of his biggest passions was the support of Defending The Blue Line, a non-profit charitable foundation whose mission is to ensure that children of military members are afforded every opportunity to participate in the great game of hockey. Military personnel wishing to to attend the game can purchase lower level tickets at a special price of $45.
While at the game, all fans in attendance will receive a Derek Boogaard poster featuring a re-production of a painting of “The Boogeyman” by sports artist Robert Blehert. They can also visit a Boogaard tribute in the main concourse near Gate 3 and adjacent to a similar tribute to former Wild player Sergei Zholtok.
The team will also unveil a commemorative Boogaard tribute T-shirt and puck along with releasing a limited number of Boogaard autographed items and game worn jerseys on November 27. Proceeds from the sale of these items will benefit Defending The Blue Line.
Come to Hockey Giant in Bloomington, MN tomorrow at 2PM. Used gear or canned food gets you Minnesota Wild autographs!
The family of Derek Boogaard has donated 150 tickets to Defending The Blue Line for the Minnesota Wild’s tribute night on Sunday, November 27th, 2011. We are asking that military members using the tickets appear in uniform that night to honor Derek, and say thank you to the family for this special gift. See you all there!
The “DTBL Military All-Star Team” will once again be squaring off against the Mn NHL Alumni Assoc. for the coveted “Camo-Cup”. While the trophy is currently resting comfortably in the hands of the NHL Alumni, the DTBL team is committed to bringing more grit, determination, and hopefully a little more skill to bring the cup home to it’s rightful resting place at DTBL HQ!
“Skate For The Troops” 2012 will be on January 21, 2012 at the John Rose Oval in Roseville! Stand by for more news on this event.
