NHLPA is one of the largest contributors to Defending The Blue Line®. The NHLPA Goals and Dreams Foundation has donated over $300,000 in equipment and financial support to DTBL. With their help DTBL has been able to outfit over 500 military kids, from all over the world, with top of the line gear. Families request the gear, sign for it, and when it is outgrown they return it to be sterilized and re-issued. DTBL is truly grateful for the massive amount of support both financially and logistically that they have provided to military families.
February 18, 2014- 80 boxes of brand new, high end gear arrived at Defending The Blue Line® HQ today thanks to the generosity of the NHLPA Goals & Dreams program! Special thanks to Devin Smith and all of the NHL Pros who support our program and make great days like today possible. There's going to be some super happy military kids wearing this stuff!
Veterans Day, November 11, 2013 - The NHLPA Goals and Dreams donated 50 sets of hockey gear to Defending The Blue Line®. 50 military kids were invited along with pro hockey players who all skated together on John Rose Oval Ice Rink in Roseville, Minnesota. Read more about this event and see the photos.
June 20, 2012 - DTBL sponsored an NHL Players Charity Game at Ridder Arena on the University of Minnesota Campus. Prior to the pro players suiting up to help our cause, we were lucky enough to have the NHLPA Goals & Dreams Foundation staff , along with a few of the pro’s, host a great 1 hour clinic for over 50 local military kids. The kids received some great training from the likes of Nate Prosser, Tom Chorske, Aaron Boogaard, Zach McKelvie, and Matt Langen from the NHLPA.
It was a dream come true for the service members’ kids, who represented every branch of the military. Each skater went home with some new training tips, a trophy, a jersey, and most of all the memory of a lifetime. This was such a great night to have the kids out to skate, then get a few autographs, and finally watch their idols put on a show in team Army’s 7-5 victory. Thank you to NHLPA for coming out and supporting such an awesome evening.
This young man made a visit to the MN DTBL office with his dad. His Dad is a wounded warrior and was super grateful that we had the gear from the NHLPA. Without DTBL providing his kids with gear, he said they would not have been able to play hockey. Many thanks to the NHLPA Goals & Dreams foundation and our NHL players for making this possible.
