Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks has supported Defending The Blue Line® since 2009 when Brent played for the Minnesota Wild. November 2014 - Susan Burns, wife of Brent Burns and DTBL Board of Governors, helped to pull off a surprise party for Jessica's husband at a Sharks game. Steven had just returned from deployment with the Marine Corps and he was surprised him with a welcome home/birthday night in the Burns' suite all wrapped into one. Steven is a big Joe Thornton fan so to top it off Susan got a jersey signed for him that she presented in the suite. Click on a photo to view the gallery:
November 3, 2014 - Brent once again raised a lot of money for three non-profits close to his heart: Defending the Blue Line, the Katie Moore Foundation, and the San Francisco Zoo. The Sharks Foundation sponsored the event where Brent's head and beard were shaved to raise over $15,000. The top 10 donors had the chance to witness Burnzie’s Buzzcut in person and take photos with Brent afterward.
November 1, 2014 - Brent Burns was awarded the Commendation Medal by the California National Guard for his charity work with Defending The Blue Line®. Watch the video here.
2014/2015 Season- For the 6th consecutive season, Brent and Susan Burns will be providing a luxury suite for military families at every single San Jose Sharks home game. Brent & Susan are the single largest annual and lifetime donors for Defending The Blue Line®. They have provided service members with well over a million dollars worth of benefits. A huge thank you goes out to Brent and Susan Burns.
August 11, 2014 - The 2014 DTBL Warrior Camp was held for 60 military kids who stayed at Camp Ripley in Minnesota and skated at St. Cloud University Huskie Ice. On one of the days at the camp, there was a conference call between the kids, Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks, and Zach Parise of the Minnesota Wild. It was one of the highlights of the camp. Special thanks to these two Pro's for taking the time to answer all the questions from our little warriors!

April 17, 2014 - San Jose Jr. Sharks kids that won the "Skate For The Troops" fundraiser on February 2, 2014. The kids were excited to meet Burnzie after the playoff home opener:
March 21, 2014 - Brent Burns was nominated for 2014 NHL Foundation player award: "This season, Burns made a huge impact on the children served by Defending The Blueline. Along with being a strident advocate for the organization, Burns donated a suite to military families for every San Jose Sharks home game, raised over $24,000 by shaving his head and beard in “Burnzie’s Buzz Cut for Charity”, helped raise over $60,000 with the “Skate For The Troops and Jr. Sharks Fundraiser”, and continued to donate the proceeds from his signature line of clothing made by Gongshow Gear." March 6, 2014 - Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks hosted Sgt. 1st Class Wade Scott, California Guardsman and Purple Heart recipient, at the game.
February 2, 2014 - Burnzie participated in the Skate For The Troops & Jr. Sharks "Skate for a Cause" at the San Jose Ice - Center Rink in San Jose, California. Over $62,000 was raised by all of the participants. Cathy Andrade of Cathy's Power Skating headed up the event. See the photos and read more about the event.

November 1, 2013 - Burnzie's Buzzcut for Charity. Brent raised money for two non-profits close to his heart – Defending the Blue Line and the Katie Moore Foundation by shaving his beard. His goal was $5,000 but instead through the Sharks Foundation, he raised over $23,000 to be split between the 2 charities. Thank you Burnize for another great donation to DTBL.
2013/2014 hockey season - Brent once again donated a suite to every San Jose Sharks home game this season for DTBL military families. Apply for those tickets here.
August 2013 - Geckos were auctioned off by Matt Baronak who runs Sasobek's World of Reptiles in Pennsylvania. The auction was in honor of Brent Burn for Burnzies Battalion to Help Military Kids Play Hockey. $3,000 was raised during this auction.
April 8 - 19, 2013 - Brent and Cathy Andrade once again collected a ton of equipment during Burnzie's Battalion Equipment Drive 2013
January 2013 - Burnzie donated a luxury suite to the San Jose Sharks game for DTBL military families. Burnzie's Battalion Rocks!
2012 - Brent started a signature charity line of clothing from Gongshow Gear and he donated $20 from each shirt sold and $20 from each hat sold to DTBL.

July 20, 2011 - Brent played in the Charity Hockey Game at the Cottage Grove, MN Ice Arena with proceeds benefitting the Hastings Hockey Association, Cottage Grove Hockey Association, and Defending The Blue Line. Brent supports DTBL in many ways including "Burnzie's Battalion". For the 2011-2012 season he purchased a luxury suite for our military in San Jose, CA for the Sharks home games.

2009/2010 hockey season - During this NHL season Brent Burns’ support for military families was well known by anyone and everyone around him. While playing for the MN wild, Brent and his wife purchased a suite at the Xcel Energy Center for the entire 2009-10 NHL season and donated it to DTBL. This very generous donation allowed over 500 members of the military family to attend a Minnesota Wild game.
