NY Rangers Scholarship 2011
In 2011, the Rangers handed out two camp scholarships to military children in memory of forward Derek Boogaard. The two eight year old boys from New York, were chosen from the Defending the Blue Line program, created by soldiers to make hockey accessible to military children. Boogaard donated four tickets to every Rangers home game last season to military families. He dubbed the group "Boogaard's Boogaardians."
