In 2013, Defending The Blue Line provided over $1 MILLION dollars worth of hockey equipment, game tickets, cash grants, and summer camps to military families across the US & Canada. It's an incredible achievement for our little group that still has only 1 full time and 1 part time employee. Special thanks to all of our incredible volunteers, donors, supporters, and amazing military families for making the mission possible!
Defending The Blue Line® actively works to ensure that children of military members are afforded every opportunity to participate in the game of hockey. So far we have helped over 10,000 military families keep or start their kids in hockey. Who's Eligible?
Through our NHL team partners Defending The Blue Line has sent thousands of military families to pro hockey games for free nationwide. Special thanks to the Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild, Pittsburgh Penguins, LA Kings, Boston Bruins, NY Islanders, Phoenix Coyotes, Dallas Stars, and Nashville Predators for making this possible. Additionally Brent Burns provides a luxury suite at every Sharks home game dubbed “Burnzie’s Battalion”. Over 7,000 military personnel have been sent to an NHL game for free so far. Request a ticket.
The NHLPA Goals and Dreams Foundation donated $300,000 worth of new equipment for our cause. With it, Defending The Blue Line® has been able to outfit more than 700 military kids with top of the line gear. Families request the gear, sign for it, and when it is outgrown they return to be sterilized and re-issued. Request Equipment.
Defending The Blue Line® has sent over 1,200 kids to some of the best hockey camps around. Through the generosity of hockey camps nationwide, youngsters are given a chance to improve their skills at no charge. View Hockey Camps.
Defending The Blue Line® has paid over $200,000 in grants to help with local hockey association fees. Many service members are in a “Reserve” status until they are deployed, and have been affected by the economy like everyone else. This is a great way for DTBL to “say thanks” to the families who give us so much. Apply for a Grant.
